Northern York County School District Selects Next Superintendent
DILLSBURG, Pa., May 29, 2025 – Northern York County School District (NYCSD) announced
Dr. Matthew Meakin as the district’s next superintendent at the school board’s Wednesday evening meeting. He will begin his four-year term on July 1, 2025.
The board partnered with experts from the Pennsylvania School Boards Association, beginning in March 2025, to conduct an extensive search. The board received 12 applicants for the role, interviewing five highly qualified candidates and ultimately selecting Meakin from two finalists.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Meakin as Northern York County School District’s next superintendent. His extensive passion for Northern and service to others will be great assets to our school community,” said NYCSD Board President Zak Kile.
Meakin currently serves as the assistant superintendent of the NYCSD, a position he has held since 2021. Prior to his role as assistant superintendent, Meakin was a secondary principal at Littlestown Area School District for ten years.
In 2014, Meakin earned his Doctor of Education in school systems leadership from Widener
University. His Master of Science in educational leadership degree was completed in 2009 at McDaniel College. In 1995, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary English education from Mount St. Mary’s University.
