Northern Celebrates New Turf Field!

On Saturday, August 27, 2022, members of the Northern community gathered for an opening ceremony of Lobar Inc. Field - the Northern York County School District's first turf field. Participants in the event included Northern student athletes from girls soccer, girls lacrosse, field hockey, boys soccer, boys lacrosse, and the Northern cheerleaders. Members of the High School band were joined by Northern students, Adeline Lusk and Ella Falck, who sang the National Anthem. Other attendees included Ken Sechrist (School Board President), Seth Weaver (Polar Bear Foundation President), Angie Gaido (Athletic Director), Tracy Rohrbaugh, Frank Eichelberger, Jason Young (Chief Financial Operations Officer), and Matt Johnson (Director of Buildings and Grounds).

Superintendent, Steve Kirkpatrick, thanked the many people who contributed to the turf field project including, the Northern York County School Board members, the Polar Bear Foundation, the Turf Field Committee, Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates, and Lobar Inc.

Mr. Kirkpatrick concluded his remarks prior to a ribbon cutting ceremony, saying, "The future of Northern athletics is now brighter than ever!"
