STEM Activities at Dillsburg Elementary

After third grade students in Mrs. Hammock's class recently completed their standardized testing in Reading (PSSAs), it was time enjoy some fun STEM activities! They read the book, Rosie Revere Engineer, and planned how to make a plane out of pipe cleaners, tape, construction paper, and a binder clip. The goal was to fly a plane down a fishing line, then a fishing and yarn line, and finally a yarn line only. Students paired up to create the best design for Rosie to fly. In the end, the planes built by Sophia Petroff and Jacob Miller Lininger (pictured above) flew the furthest on all of the lines without coming apart. Great job Sophia and Jacob!
