Update to Close Contact Communication to Families

When the District is notified of a case of COVID in one of our schools, we will continue to conduct contact tracing to identify individuals that are considered close contacts. However, after Christmas Break, the close contact communication will be sent via email to parents’/guardians’ primary email address in Sapphire and an automated phone message. The message will read as follows:

"The District was notified today of a case of COVID involving a student in [grade level] grade at [name of school]. In conducting contact tracing, the District has identified your child as a potential close contact on [date of close contact]. The PA Department of Health defines a close contact as anyone who was within six feet of an infected person for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period.

Based on the District’s recently adopted procedure, close contacts without symptoms may return to school immediately if wearing face coverings. The face covering must be worn for 10 days from the date above or 7 days with a negative test result administered on day 5 or later. This face covering requirement includes students with mask exemptions.

If your child chooses to remain home during her/his quarantine period, please contact the school office so academic provisions can be coordinated.

If your child provides medical documentation verifying she/he is fully vaccinated or had COVID within the last 90 days, she/he does not need to wear a face covering and may immediately return to school.

Finally, if your child develops symptoms, please keep him/her home and contact our school nurse, [name and phone number of nurse]."

Thank you.
