Opening School Update

Dear families,
We are excited to get the year started. We’ve recently updated our information for the fall 2021 opening of school. You can view the updated document on our COVID webpage ( We added information on the following topics:
• Isolation/quarantine protocols for COVID cases and close contacts
• School closure criteria
The board voted Tuesday night to accept the Health and Safety Plan, which includes a mask-optional approach in our buildings. Also, a reminder that students must wear a mask while on school vans or buses.
I want to assure our families that our schools have always provided and will continue to provide a safe and supportive environment, so that all our students can feel comfortable going about their day whether wearing a mask or not. Our teachers and administrators will be paying special attention to this dynamic in our schools, and, in fact, some adults in each of our buildings will be modeling mask-wearing themselves.
In addition, this year we will be communicating case counts by building using a Case Monitoring Dashboard, which will be posted on the COVID webpage and updated daily. While last year you received an email notice through Blackboard for every case, we can keep you just as informed with less interruption utilizing the dashboard. Information provided on the dashboard will include:
• New in-person cases by school for the previous day
• In-person cases by school within a 14-day moving window
Thanks for taking time to read this message. We will do everything in our power to ensure our students have a safe and productive start to the school year.
