Cases at South Mountain Elementary, Middle & High School 5.5.21
The District has been notified of three cases of COVID-19 in our schools, a South Mountain Elementary School staff member last in the building on April 30, a Northern Middle School student last in the building on May 5, and a Northern High School student last in the building on April 29. This is the first case for South Mountain, the first case for the middle school, and the first case for the high school within the current rolling 14-day period.
Should South Mountain end up with two or more cases, the middle school end up with four or more cases, or the high school end up with six or more cases within the rolling 14-day period, the District must close that building for face-to-face activities. Otherwise, per the revised recommendations of PDE’s closure orders, after the schools take action in accordance with the guidelines of the PA Department of Health and the protocols established in the District’s Health and Safety Plan—including contact tracing, quarantining individuals that were in close contact, and appropriate cleaning and disinfecting of affected areas—their case count will reset to zero after the weekend.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate the many challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
