South Mtn. Elem. Closed; Cases at Middle and High School 4.13.21
The District has been notified of five cases of COVID-19 across multiple schools – two at South Mountain Elementary School, two at the high school, and one at the middle school.
South Mountain’s cases involved two students last in the building on Monday, April 12. Because South Mountain Elementary has now accumulated two cases within a 14-day period, the building must close Wednesday, April 14 and Thursday, April 15. Staff and students will operate in the remote model of instruction. South Mountain Elementary will reopen on Friday, April 16.
The high school’s cases involved two students last in the building on Monday, April 12. These are the first and second cases for the high school within the current rolling 14-day period (six cases require a closure).
The middle school’s case involved a student last in the building on Monday, April 12. This is the first case for the middle school within the current rolling 14-day period (four cases require a closure).
The District has taken action in accordance with the guidelines of the PA Department of Health (DOH) and the protocols established in the district’s Health and Safety Plan, including consultation with the DOH, contact tracing, quarantining individuals that were in close contact, and appropriate cleaning and disinfecting of affected areas.
