Northern Middle School Students Participate in National French Exam

Thirteen students in Mrs. Joanne Magill’s French I class at Northern Middle School participated in the National French Exam this spring. The exam is an annual contest sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF), and 2019 marks the 84th year that the test has taken place, as well as the 23rd year that NMS students have participated. Students demonstrate their knowledge of French through listening comprehension and written questions. This year’s participants in the exam were: Alyssa Miller, Quinn Fenicle, Aithlyn Rennirt, Ashley Miller, Kiera Mull, Rachael Deffenbaugh, Lauren Harriman, Elle Hlatky, Elizabeth Kirkland, Zach Tutich, Paul Pasqualini, Ryan Brown, and Elias Sharifi.

These Northern students were among a total of 17,617 students who took the same test nationwide. Mrs. Magill presented these students with certificates of participation at the final 8th grade assembly of the school year. In addition, the AATF gives special recognition to students who score in the top 50% of all participants at each level. Congratulations to Alyssa Miller and Aithlyn Rennirt, who achieved this distinction, being presented with certificates of National Honorable Mention.
