Dillsburg Elementary Celebrates Earth Day

The second grade classes at Dillsburg Elementary celebrated Earth Day last week by participating in a variety of activities at the Wonders’ house. The students learned which items can and cannot be recycled and how long it takes for certain materials to decompose in landfills. The students also placed fruit and vegetable scraps on the Wonders’ compost pile and then added the soil to their garden. Finally, the students had the opportunity to make their own recycled paper from pulp. The trip concluded with a relay race where students learned that Earth is the real winner when we reduce, reuse and recycle!
