In order to clearly communicate with families, many of NYCSD’s staff utilize the "Remind". This system allows teachers to provide information via text messaging to a large number of parents at once.
We were recently made aware of an issue with Remind and Verizon Wireless. Beginning January 28, 2019, Verizon Wireless customers will no longer be able to receive text messages from Remind. This is the result of a change in Verizon's policy regarding what they consider to be "spam" messages. Remind is working to remedy this, but at this point Verizon customers will not receive text messages from Remind accounts beginning January 28th.
There are two options to continue receiving notifications through Remind:
1. Download their app and enable push notifications to your phone. 2. Go to remind.com, create an account/sign in, and select “turn on email notifications.” This will allow you to receive the same information via email instead of texts.
