Dillsburg Elementary Students Learn About Immigration

Miss Janelle Kopac's third grade students at Dillsburg Elementary School wrapped up their immigration unit by reading the historical fiction text, "Molly's Pilgrim." In the text, a girl makes a pilgrim doll out of a clothespin, which is then placed in a diorama of the first Thanksgiving. To celebrate the end of the unit and the Thanksgiving holiday, students made their own clothespin dolls to represent themselves. They were tricky to make (especially the hair) but the students persevered! The students placed the dolls around a modern day Thanksgiving table and shared what they were most thankful for in their lives. The beans on the table were grown in a hydroponic chamber during science class.
