Middle School Students Attend 'The Tempest' at Messiah College
On November 15th, 39 students were slated to see William Shakespeare's The Tempest at Messiah College. Unfortunately, Central PA had its own "tempest" that day and school and the trip were canceled. Students had given up Study Hall time to prepare to see the play and all were disappointed. Messiah's box office came to the rescue and offered a deep, deep discount for students to see the last performance of the play that Sunday afternoon. Mr. Michael Barber and Mrs. Sylvia Murray attended, chaperoning for anyone who wished to attend. In all, eleven students took time out of their weekend to see The Bard's work live. All were impressed with the set, the acting, and the director's choice to reverse certain genders. For many, it was their first theatrical experience, where they were introduced to a "brave, new world."
