Attendance Information

24 P.S. 13-1326 and 22 Pa. Code 11.13

Compulsory school age in Pennsylvania refers to the period of a child’s life from the time the child enters school (which may be no later than at the age of 6 years), until the age of 18 or graduation from high school, whichever occurs first. 

Parent/Guardian Communication Plan

Parent receives Doctor's Excuse Warning Letter  -  6th Parent-noted absence

Parent receives Doctor's Excuse Required Letter  -  10th Parent-noted absence

Parent receives First Notice Letter  -  3rd Unlawful Absence

Parent invited to a School Attendance Improvement Conference (student, parent, school team in attendance) where a School Attendance Improvement Plan is developed.  -  4th or 5th Unlawful Absence

School may file Charges with the District Magistrate and/or submit a York County Truancy Referral to Children and Youth  -  6th Unlawful Absence
