Elemental Matter(s)
Welcome to Mr. Hatch's home page. IF you've landed here on purpose, you are either a student or the parent of a student in one of three classes; Chemistry I, Chemistry II, or General Science III. Here is a brief description of each course... Chemistry I -(Academic - Course 4320, Honors, Course 4210) - This course is designed to provide students with basic knowledge and skills of chemistry, both in the lab and in theory. Honors Chemistry I is recommended for students of high ability level in math and science and involves more independent projects and more challenging problem solving. Academic Chemistry I is a bit less rigorous, follows a slower pace, and offers a greater degree of teacher-directed learning. Both designed for prospective college students interested in pursuing a math/science related career. Chemistry II - (Honors, Course 4510) - This course is designed for students who have completed Chemistry I with a high level of success and broaches more challenging concepts in chemistry theory and lab with a quantitative focus on inorganic concepts. While this course does not cover all of the standards for the AP Chemistry exam, students have the option of studying a small number of additional topics independently to prepare themselves for the AP. Students have successfully done this from past classes. General Science III - (Standard, Course 4330) - This course offers the standard level student an overview of a variety of science concepts with an emphasis in chemistry and physics.
